My school’s Independence Day was a treasured memory that still animates my childhood fantasies. I remember being a small child at the time, full of energy, and anticipating the big celebration that was ahead of us. My heart was beating weeks before the event because of the anticipation for laddus and jalebis, those delectable delights. A half-day at school was like a gift from above, giving me and my pals plenty of time to play cricket, which is one of our favorite sports.
My childhood was rich in the interior of the remote village of Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh. This location has a special place in my heart because of how uncomplicated and welcoming it is. I acquired my education at “St. Thomas’ School,” one of the district’s exceptional schools, which was a blessing.
St. Thomas’ School was more than just a place for education; it also served as a haven for our hopes and aspirations. Independence Day on August 15 was more than just a holiday; it was a festival of freedom and creativity. As the school prepared for a number of events, my personal favourite was the Talent Day, the atmosphere was electric with anticipation. Students dressed up as performers on this particular day, imitating both our esteemed teachers and beloved actors. As the school changed into a platform for joy and creativity, laughter reverberated throughout the hallways.
Those memories are still as fresh in my mind as if they had happened yesterday. Though times have changed, the meaning of Independence Day hasn’t. The commotion of modern life has changed how we observe this important event. The once-vibrant celebration of Independence Day has mostly been reduced to a formality in recent years.
